Selma Stern Zentrum für Jüdische Studien Berlin-Brandenburg, Universität Potsdam
Adem Muzaffer Erol is a PhD candidate at the Selma Stern Center for Jewish Studies in Berlin and Potsdam University Department of Jewish Studies and Religious Studies. He conducts his research under the supervision of Prof. Sina Rauschenbach and Prof. Johann Ev. Hafner. He is a member of the research group "Jewish-Jewish Encounters in the Ottoman Empire" directed by Dr Susanne Härtel. He received his Bachelor of Science in political science at the University of Akdeniz in Turkey. His Master’s thesis in Sociology and Anthropology of the Middle East department at Marmara University dealt with the “Civil-Military Relations in Israel.”
His doctoral project focuses on the Sephardic Jews in Turkey who immigrated to Israel after 2008. The project aims to examine the reasons for immigration and the integration process in Israel. The immigration of the Sephardic Jews from Turkey to Israel is not a new phenomenon. It was in progress before the establishment of Israel. However, the motives for immigration and integration processes show changes. Therefore, the project also aims to compare the immigration and integration processes before and after 2008.
